The "I am Jewish. I am in the Urals" project was created to combat loneliness among elderly people over 65 who survived WWII and the Holocaust, as well as to preserve and pass on their personal experiences to future generations.
Project Description:
As part of the project, elderly people share their stories, which are later used as plots for play scripts. People aged 16 to 50 who value the preservation and transmission of the experiences of Jewish community members in the Urals, who survived significant historical events like WWII and the Holocaust, participate in conducting interviews and preparing the play.
Project Goals:
- Socialization of elderly people
- Passing on the experiences and knowledge of Jews who found themselves in the Urals to future generations
- Familiarizing the public with the unique aspects of Jewish life in the Urals
- Preserving the historical memory of WWII and the Holocaust
- Enhancing cultural life through the staging and performance of thematic plays
Role of Volunteers:
- Identifying and recruiting participants for the project
- Interviewing elderly community members
- Assisting in the preparation of plays
- Attending acting classes and participating in the plays
- Filming and showcasing the play to the target audience
Project Results:
- 25 volunteers involved in the project
