Preserving and maintaining Jewish values and traditions.
The project "Preserving Memory – A Path to the Future" is dedicated to safeguarding the historical memory of the Jewish people's tragedy, as well as their values and traditions.
Project Description:
The project has been active for three years. It regularly organizes the maintenance of Jewish burial sites, old cemeteries, and memorials honoring Holocaust victims in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region. Participants also learn about the history of Jewish families, Jewish genealogy, and the art of creating and reading epitaphs.
Goals of the Project:
- To study the history of Jews in Vitebsk and the surrounding region.
- To preserve the memory of the Holocaust.
- To maintain and care for memorial burial sites.
- To involve younger generations in preserving the Jewish people's historical memory.
Role of Volunteers:
- Preparing and organizing cleanup efforts at memorial burial sites.
- Informing the public about upcoming events.
- Studying the history of Jewish communities and sharing this knowledge with other community members.
Project Results:
- Regular upkeep and improvement of memorial burial sites.
- Preservation of Holocaust memory.
- Strengthening connections within the community.
- Promoting Jewish culture and traditions.
