The volunteer team "We are together"
This action consisted of several steps of volunteers' work. The goal was to congratulate as many members of the JCC as possible who need attention and care.
The Jewish Community Center “Shamash” Karaganda (Kazakhstan) began to prepare the charity event for Rosh Hashanah in advance, in August. The first step was to collect money, apples, and sugar for jam (Jewish Jam).
The “Мы вместе” (Russian, "We are together") volunteer team is led by Irina Kozhanovskaya, who allocated responsibilities and thought out an action plan together with the volunteers.
Who makes jam, who goes and buys disposable tableware, who bakes Challoth and cooks stuffed fish. And the last step is the delivery of gifts and congratulations to our community members: (lonely) elderly people and/or physically challenged people.
Our volunteer team has been working for several years, so all the work is well thought out and coordinated.
Amber jam made by Irina Revenko with the help of Natalia Sharypkina, Victoria Trofimenko, and her second-grader daughter Erica. Challoth were baked by Alla Chernikova, Nelly Krasnova, Valeria Kaplun.
Stuffed fish was prepared by Serafima Barannik, Natalia Tleulina, and Tamara Kuliyeva.
Marina Drovovoz – bought all the necessary and together with Lada Malikova pasted postcards, packaged products.
As a result, 52 holiday sets were prepared!
The gift included:
2 round Challoth,
Apples and honey,
Jar of jam,
Bottle of red wine (300 ml.)
Stuffed fish (cutlets)
Jewish calendar for the year 5781 and greeting card.
And the day before Rosh Hashanah, our team
(Irina Kokosh, Veronika Bondarenko, Maria Popova, Michael Mereminsky, Victoria Trofimenko, Lada Malikov, Seraphim Baranik and Marina Drowemos)
went to congratulate our care recipients in different districts of the city, as well as in the satellite town of Abay, so that in the evening on a festive table there was everything necessary for the holiday.
Words cannot describe the delight, emotions, and words of gratitude that our volunteers received from those they congratulated.
We would like to express our gratitude to the volunteers and everyone who helped financially implement such a large and great charity project.
