Rosh Hashanah on the Dniester River
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, representatives of the senior generation from our community gathered on the banks of the Dniester River.
On the Dniester’s shore, the Tashlich ritual took place, bringing together the older members of our community. Volunteers explained the significance of the ritual and hosted an engaging quiz for the participants.
Following tradition, attendees recited prayers and cast breadcrumbs into the water, symbolizing the cleansing of sins. The prayer served as a reminder of life’s pitfalls and the importance of avoiding temptations.
Traditional treats — apples with honey prepared by the volunteers — sweetened the day, while greeting cards crafted by young volunteers from Bender added a heartfelt touch to the celebration.
Before the holiday, the Day Center hosted workshops where participants painted Rosh Hashanah symbols, such as honey and apples, and decorated wooden figures. During a macramé class, they learned to weave bracelets while enjoying cheerful conversations.
Thanks to the volunteers, these gatherings are filled with an atmosphere of friendship and support!
