Day of Remembrance
In Tashkent, teenagers and volunteers prepared a series of events for veterans, war children, and ghetto survivors.
As part of the "Jewish Revival" project on the eve of May 9, teenagers and volunteers from the Tashkent center prepared several events for veterans, war children, and ghetto survivors. The children and teenagers crafted wonderful festive cards to pay tribute to those who preserved peace and ensured the possibility for new generations to be born and live. Each veteran also received a handmade towel as a gift.
The Memory Lesson sparked great interest, attended by both children and parents. Each family had the opportunity to talk about their heroes who endured the great war, thus preserving their memory and taking pride in the heroism of their ancestors. At the end of the meeting, everyone participated in creating a Memory Wall, where they attached photographs of the heroes. The stories shared touched everyone deeply, as almost every family was marked by the war's bloody footprint!
Memory lessons are essential for our children; without them, it is impossible to develop a conscious society capable of learning from past mistakes and taking pride in their people's heroism. Even though the war's explosions have long since ceased, our children must know the consequences of malice and hatred.
There are no words to express the respect and gratitude we owe to our dear veterans, and it is our duty to pass on the memory of those horrific events to the younger generation. We thank everyone who participated in the events and wish each person a peaceful sky above their heads!
