IT Grandma
Conducting classes for the elderly to teach computer literacy.
The "IT Grandma" project aims to increase the level of computer literacy among elderly people and is suitable for various levels of training – from beginners to advanced users. By becoming acquainted with information technologies, elderly people get the opportunity to become part of the modern digital world.
Project Description:
As part of the project, volunteers hold meetings twice a week for elderly participants, introducing them to popular digital technologies and teaching them how to use gadgets.
Project Goals:
The main goals of the project are:
- Increasing the level of digital literacy among the elderly.
- Socializing seniors through computer technologies and offline meetings.
- Developing necessary skills for using modern gadgets.
- Improving the quality of life for the elderly by acquiring new skills and expanding their social circle.
Role of Volunteers:
The project is supported by a team of 15 volunteers whose tasks include:
- Conducting computer literacy classes.
- Developing educational programs.
- Preparing and adapting educational materials, including videos, presentations, and practical assignments.
- Providing comprehensive support to elderly participants during the classes.
Project Results:
- Training 300 people in computer literacy over 6 years of the project’s existence.
- Including elderly community members in social life.
- Combating loneliness and stress through communication and learning in a team of like-minded individuals.
- Improving the quality of life for elderly community members.
- Acquiring new skills, which positively affects the cognitive health of elderly people.
