Day of Kindness

Monthly Support for Elderly Community Members

As part of the Day of Kindness project, elderly members of the Shymkent community receive targeted assistance in the form of food packages containing essential items necessary to maintain health and an active lifestyle. The project is supported by Hesed “Polina” and the Shymkent Synagogue and will continue at least through the end of 2025.

In May, as usual, 11 food packages were prepared for the project’s beneficiaries. These included grains, pasta, oil, flour, vegetables, fruits, and fragrant pastries from our kosher bakery. Before delivering the packages, volunteers gathered for a Torah lesson led by the rabbi’s wife. This moment holds special significance, as it inspires volunteers for acts of kindness and gives deeper meaning to each good deed.

Volunteers then visited their beneficiaries to not only bring the food packages but also to show their support and offer sincere human connection. For the elderly members of the community, emotional support is just as important, and they always respond with warmth and gratitude for the volunteers’ efforts.

We would like to give special thanks to our sponsor, Zubareva Zh.G., whose generosity keeps this support project alive and allows us to meet the needs of those facing difficulties. Her contribution is a true example of compassion. Day of Kindness is not only an opportunity to offer real help—it’s a chance to share the warmth of your heart with those who need it most!
