Voices of Support
“Volunteer Patronage” Continues to Provide Social and Emotional Support for Seniors
The idea behind the project is to partially fill the role of patronage services by building a sustainable volunteer network capable of offering targeted assistance to elderly citizens who are not covered by Hesed’s care services.
Volunteers have already begun practical work, providing support in the following forms:

As the project developed, stable “volunteer–beneficiary” pairs began to form, built on trust and ongoing interaction. For example, one elderly participant received not only help with cleaning her apartment but also with repairing windows and dismantling a faulty air conditioner — greatly improving her safety at home.
Organizing Support and Volunteer Coordination
A specialized dispatcher service, the “Voices of Support”, was created, made up of active seniors. They received training on effective telephone communication with elderly people. To ensure smooth coordination, a WhatsApp group was set up to allow quick transmission of requests and prompt volunteer responses. This system enables dispatchers and beneficiaries to connect directly with volunteers.

Testimonial
Galina Solomonovna, 77 years old:
“For a long time, I didn’t dare to ask for help. I used to manage on my own, but with age it became difficult. Thanks to this project, volunteers — kind, caring young people — now come to me. They helped tidy up, washed the windows — it became brighter in my apartment and in my heart. This is more than just help — it’s the return of dignity and peace of mind.”
