The Warmth of Hands and Symbols of the Holiday

On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, volunteers from the “Origins of Mercy” project gathered to create special handmade gifts for their beneficiaries.

As the long-awaited holiday of Rosh Hashanah approached, volunteers from the “Origins of Mercy” project decided to bring joy to their beneficiaries with unique, handmade gifts. Clay became the main material for these memorable creations, and to fully master the art of working with it, the volunteers had the opportunity to take part in an engaging pottery workshop.

The meeting took place on September 12 and was led by Tatiana, an instructor from the @momandme.pottery studio, who gladly shared her knowledge with all participants. Following her guidance, the volunteers created beautiful and practical household items — charming jars for sugar and honey, especially meaningful for the upcoming holiday.

Although everyone followed the same basic technique, each piece turned out to be truly unique, reflecting the creativity and personality of its maker. Some jars were shaped like apples, others resembled pomegranates or pears. And even if they weren’t perfect in craftsmanship, they radiated warmth and the sincere desire to bring joy to others.

These wonderful gifts became symbols of Rosh Hashanah, alongside traditional fruits — apples, pomegranates, and figs — while the honey that will fill each jar will make a delightful addition to every festive table! The workshop once again proved that it’s never too late to learn something new — just as it’s never too late to share kindness and care with those around you.

We thank everyone who took part in the workshop, and extend special gratitude to the @momandme.pottery studio and Tatiana for their skill, warmth, and generosity in sharing their expertise. Such initiatives bring people together and help us feel part of one big family, where dozens of small good deeds unite into something great — something that can truly make our world a better place!
