Sweet Purim
Celebrating Purim includes four central commandments, one of which is charity.
As part of the “Food Security” project, volunteers from the Magen HaTov center — including many active senior volunteers — joined forces with the Central Synagogue of Almaty to prepare 100 festive gift packages. These packages were intended to bring the joy of the holiday into the homes of lonely elderly people, large families, and families with limited resources. Each package was delivered personally so that our beneficiaries could fully experience the spirit of Purim.
Following the important commandments of Purim, volunteers prepared the gifts with joy and kind thoughts. According to volunteer Marina Lastovets, the team felt inspired by the understanding of how many positive emotions their work would bring to others.
Volunteers from Shymkent also joined the initiative by preparing food packages for their beneficiaries in honor of Purim. The collection and packing of gifts took place at the city’s synagogue, after which the packages were delivered to community members in need. Volunteer Galina Abramovich also prepared a special festive cake for the Socialization Club as a sweet holiday treat.
We thank everyone who took part in creating a festive atmosphere for those who especially need attention and care on the eve of the wonderful holiday of Purim.
Chag Purim Sameach!
