Purim in the Community
Volunteers in Pavlodar marked the holiday of Purim with several events together with community members
In March, members of our community celebrated the joyful holiday of Purim. As always, volunteers from our Call Center congratulated their beneficiaries, wishing them joy, fun, miracles, and, of course, happiness and peace. Six birthday celebrants of March also received warm greetings. The work of our volunteers is hard to overestimate: without them, elderly and less mobile community members would be deprived of the warmth of human connection. By regularly calling their beneficiaries, volunteers also identify their needs in order to provide the necessary support. The project responsible for supporting elderly individuals living alone is coordinated by Anna Strizhevskaya. Thanks to her and her team, no one feels abandoned or alone.
Another volunteer project of our center focuses on supporting low-income families. Within its framework, we collect clothing and essentials for the five children of the Mikhaylenko family. Volunteers inform community members that old вещи can find a second life and help those who truly need them. On the eve of Purim, we were able to bring joy to the children by providing them with new items.
In preparation for the holiday, following one of Purim’s main commandments — Matanot la-evyonim (giving to those in need) — volunteers from the Ust-Kamenogorsk Hesed collected and delivered delicious gifts to children from the Kolpakov large family. They also baked wonderful donuts themselves, which delighted all Hesed clients and became a festive addition to every home’s holiday table.
Purim was celebrated joyfully, loudly, and most importantly — together. It has already become a wonderful tradition to celebrate community holidays with AJT Junior and AJT clubs alongside the older generation. This is how vibrant and meaningful Purim was this year! We thank everyone who took part in organizing and carrying out these volunteer initiatives!
