"Memories of thee Past" with Yosef Davidovich Belous

International day of the victims of Holocaust was hosted in Chisinau

This day dedicated to the memories of the victims the events from the first half of the 20th century. This is a day of sorrow and mourning. This day is important to retail stories and memories of that tragic catastrophe. Our goal is to live and never forget about these events to never let them happen again in the future.

Republican Voluntary Center takes it as their responsibility to host a meeting with a title that speaks for itself - “Memories from the Past”. This type of events are hosted every year for the volunteers of RVC. They are targeted on getting a glimpse of the history from the perspective of those who got to witness it for themselves. This way we are honoring everyone who was killed during Holocaust.

“Memories of the Past” is a conversation with witness of these horrible events, where we don’t discuss genocide, antisemitism and Nazism directly. It is important for us to see, listen and understand the person who lived through this, who have seen life from a different perspective. It is important to live to remember!

Not so long ago, was hosted an interview with Yosef Davidovich Belous – chairman of the association of the former prisoners of ghetto and concentration camps in Moldova.

Yosef Davidovich – was a prisoner of the ghetto in Ribnita. He is an economy professor and was titled “Man of the Year” by the American institute of bibliography. Now he is 82 an he is ready to relieve the memories of the past for the peaceful future.

“The best way to get to know history is to face it.” Our main hero of the event has told us about his life during the years of Holocaust and that even though life gives you an impossible challenge, it is still possible to be a human. During the meet-up, the participants got to as Yosef questions. At the end of the event was presented a short film created by RVC that told personal stories of the members of the community. Our elderly friend has shared memories about the events that left an unhealable scar on his life. Together we realized how to live the live with all the challenges that are thrown your way and don’t forget how to save a human within, as well as the peace on the planet Earth! It is important that we got to hear the story firsthand and we have the possibility to transmit it further.
