Holocaust Remembrance Week Held in Bryansk
From January 23 to 30, with the support of volunteers from "Hesed Tikva," Holocaust Remembrance Week was held
From January 23 to 30, with the support of volunteers from "Hesed Tikva," Holocaust Remembrance Week was held, featuring various events aimed at raising public awareness of this tragic event of World War II and ensuring the memory of it is passed down to future generations.
On January 23, a lecture titled "Letters as Testimonies of the Holocaust in Pochep" was given by the director of Rechitsa Secondary School. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust tragedy firsthand by reading letters from living witnesses.
On January 26, a Memorial Action was held at the Holocaust Memorial, where volunteers recited their own poetry and shared their reflections on the horrific tragedy of the war years. Additionally, on January 27, we lit the Candle of Remembrance as part of the commemorative event of the same name.
On January 27 and 28, those interested were able to join the online "Holocaust Remembrance Lab," and on January 28, participate in the panel discussion "The History of the Holocaust: An Open Dialogue" at the "Roads of Memory" Museum for the Sunday club "Tziporim."
However, the most notable event of Remembrance Week was the premiere of the play "Between the Walls" by the youth theater "BET." The outstanding performance of the actors allowed the audience to immerse themselves in the terrifying atmosphere of those war years and to feel the full horror of the Jewish people's tragedy. The Remembrance Week concluded with a lecture by L. A. Terushkin, head of the archive of the Holocaust Research and Education Center (Moscow), titled "The Liberation of Auschwitz."
We thank everyone who participated in organizing Remembrance Week and all who attended the events. Thanks to you, the memory of those terrible events continues to live in our hearts, and we are passing it on to our children!
