Good Deeds Day 2026 Activities

On the International Day of Good Deeds, the Transnistria Community united in several important initiatives

Members of our community took an active part in Good Deeds Day 2026, alongside hundreds of thousands of other volunteers around the world. We carried out several campaigns of different directions, the main goal of which was to provide assistance to those in need.

The “Good for the Little Paws” campaign attracted special attention from the older generation, who managed to collect more than 200 kg of grain and pet food, as well as more than 150 syringes for the needs of an animal shelter. All of this was delivered to the shelter by teenagers, who were able to interact with its furry residents and give them a bit of human warmth and affection.

The “Shabbat Shalom” campaign was aimed at collecting essential ingredients for baking challah. As a result, about 40 kg of flour, 7 kg of sugar, 2 kg of starch, and 10 liters of oil were collected. These products will be used by our volunteers, who bake challah twice a month for Shabbat for members of the community. It is important that this campaign is not limited to one day and can be joined at any time, as help is constantly needed.

Another Good Deeds Day initiative was the “Guardians of Pages” campaign, carried out by participants of the Hesed Day Center. Over several days, they sorted and organized books in small libraries at the Day Center and the Synagogue.

In Tiraspol and Rîbnița, the “Memory of Generations” campaigns took place, during which students of AJT and volunteers cleaned and improved Jewish cemeteries. There was a lot of work: removing trash, pulling weeds, and tidying up the areas. In total, more than six bags of waste were removed from the Tiraspol cemetery. During the work and conversations with volunteers, the young participants learned many new things, for example that the Tiraspol cemetery is not just a burial site, but a true “open-air archive.” A special impression was made by the 1953 memorial: its uniqueness lies in the fact that it encodes the history of the community’s struggle for the right to remember their dead as Jews — using Hebrew and religious symbolism during the years of strict state atheism. In Rîbnița, participants cleaned the old Jewish cemetery, the memorial to the victims of the Rîbnița ghetto.

Good Deeds Day, as always, became a powerful unifying factor for representatives of different generations, encouraging everyone to perform even a small act of kindness for the benefit of our community. And what should those who did not manage to take part in this grand event do? It’s simple: they can come to our volunteer center and become part of a large and friendly team whose members create goodness every day.
