Golden Disco for Seniors

On November 5, in honor of International Day of Older Persons, RVC hosted a bright and truly heartfelt evening—Golden Disco.

Golden Disco was a celebration where generations came together. It brought seniors and volunteers together, inspired by the music of the 70s and 80s—a time when dance floors sparkled with disco balls and every song became the soundtrack of youth.

Thanks to our volunteers, we recreated an interior familiar to many from cozy apartments of past decades: soft lighting, vinyl records, and touches of retro nostalgia. Special attention was given to the dress code—“Nowhere to Wear This”.

This idea came from a simple observation: everyone has clothes they keep “for a special occasion” but never wear. We wanted to create an event where people could embrace a little sparkle, style, and freedom—a place where everyone has a reason to wear something special.

On the dance floor, songs played that our senior friends once danced to at school parties, college balls, and family celebrations. Volunteers and participants danced together, and even younger attendees joined in, as many 70s and 80s hits live on today in new covers and sound just as fresh. The evening also featured games like “Fanta”, quizzes, and nostalgic questions that sparked conversations and stories. A special moment was the performance by Anatoly, who played his wife’s favorite songs on the guitar.

Golden Disco became more than just a party. It was an evening of memories, music, open hearts, and genuine warmth.

We sincerely thank all the volunteers who helped create an atmosphere of comfort and joy, and all the participants—for their emotions, smiles, and dancing, proving that age doesn’t matter when music lives in the soul.
