On April 24th, our center hosted a unique cooking master class where participants learned how to prepare dishes using matzo as part of the preparations for the Passover Seder. The event attracted 25 senior volunteers and Hesed clients, who were eager to discover new culinary skills. The master class sparked great interest, and the participants’ expectations were fully met!
Can something interesting really be made from ordinary matzo? As it turns out, yes! Jewish culinary tradition offers a variety of such recipes, although not every cook may be familiar with them. During the master class, participants prepared bruschetta, berry buns, and even a cake! Additionally, they shared old recipes passed down from their grandmothers, including galettes, matzo brei, kneidlach, and kugel.
Under the guidance of volunteers, the work progressed smoothly. Everyone enthusiastically collaborated in the communal kitchen, and soon, the table was adorned with wonderful and unusual dishes made from the simplest of ingredients—matzo! These culinary masterpieces were later enjoyed at the festive Seder.
We extend our gratitude to our volunteers for organizing this wonderful master class! We also thank all the participants for their eagerness to learn something new and for preserving the ancient cultural traditions of our people. This is how we ensure these traditions endure for many years to come!
