Busy June
In June, the volunteers of the city of Karaganda managed both to visit elderly clients and to hold a creative master class.
This year, June turned out to be rich in events and volunteer activities. Within the framework of the “Simple Help” project, volunteers Erika Trofimenko, Viktoria Trofimenko, Itzikov Zakhar, Makarenko-Ivanova Karina, Alexander Kapilevich, and Nastya Koval visited two elderly beneficiaries of our center. Bekzhanova Klara and Sergeeva Svetlana Abramovna are in constant need of assistance, and our volunteers do everything necessary to make the lives of elderly people easier and more pleasant.

This time, the volunteer agenda included cleaning and feasible household help, which the women cannot handle on their own. Volunteers tidied up, created coziness, and washed windows, which is an impossible task for people of advanced age. Such “visits of help” are important support for lonely and elderly beneficiaries and also demonstrate the unity of our community and care for those who have found themselves in difficult circumstances.
Also, at the beginning of June, within the framework of the “JAM” project, a creative master class was held under the guidance of Natalia Sharipkina. Its participants were 15 volunteers from our center. At the master class, participants got acquainted with the scrapbooking technique and created wonderful greeting cards that will be used to congratulate elderly clients on their birthdays. Thus, the volunteers killed two birds with one stone: they honed their creative skills and prepared gifts for future birthdays.

At the end of the master class, volunteers together celebrated Shabbat. The evening began with the lighting of candles and Shabbat songs, then moved on to the discussion of the weekly Torah portion with Karina Makarenko-Ivanova. The evening, as always, was very warm and heartfelt. Everyone present felt like members of a large and friendly family — our community!
