AJFest Hanukkah
At the recent AJFest Hanukkah festival, all areas of our center came together.
A wonderful AJFest Hanukkah festival took place at our center, bringing together three generations — children, parents, and elderly people — and creating an atmosphere of shared creativity, communication, and joy. The event welcomed 35 guests, all of whom were able to take part in a wide variety of activities. The festival space was divided into several themed zones, so everyone could find something they enjoyed.
In the music zone, participants sang Hanukkah songs and learned new traditional melodies. In the creative zone, guests painted vinyl records — some of the artworks were taken home, while others became part of the festival’s collective art board.
A dance flash mob brought together 25 participants, who demonstrated impressive coordination and festive energy. In the culinary zone, guests prepared traditional latkes, fully immersing themselves in the richness of Jewish cuisine.
In the traditions and language zone, festival guests explored the history of Hanukkah, its main rituals and symbols, and tried playing the traditional game with a sevivon. Teenagers presented their own projects, showcasing creativity and a fresh perspective.
Special attention was given to the center’s volunteer initiatives. Guests learned about the Briut and Volunteer Patronage projects, discovered how to join them, help elderly people, and support the community. The event concluded beautifully with a shared tea gathering around a common table, featuring donuts and latkes. When everyone came together, the first Hanukkah candle was lit, symbolizing unity and togetherness.
We thank the center’s volunteers for organizing the festival, developing programs for all activity zones, supporting participants, and actively engaging them in teamwork!
