Angelina Pavlyuk is our youngest volunteer. However, it does not stop her from taking responsibility for the “Video guide. Konotop” project and to be its administrator. She has a talent to process a large amount of information, which helps us in preparing materials for our videos.

“For me, the Video Guide project is an opportunity to learn interesting, previously unknown historical facts of my native city, and I also like to work with archival documents – I’m interested in the history of my motherland and of the world. In addition, the project gives us an opportunity to get acquainted with the work principles of journalists and bloggers, and the most important thing is that fact that we put them into practice … Finally, this is communication, new acquaintances, team work with interesting, creative people … It is cool to be a volunteer! “- says Angelina.

She studies in the senior year, and she has to choose her future profession. We hope that participation in the “Video Guide” project will help her to choore her future career.

Tamir Novgorodov, 16 years old. Schoolboy. He is fond of sports, likes cooking, playing the guitar and computer games.

He started going to the community in 2011. At first, just like other guys, he made crafts, which he delivered to the members with reduced mobility and age wards of the community. Then he became involved in the Jewish youth movement AJT. As part of this educational project, Tamir attended teen seminars in Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Perm, Gomel. Upon graduation he got the certificate of the madrich – the counselor. This gives him the right to be the leader and senior comrade of the younger generation.

The desire to learn more and make new friends does not allow Tamir to sit still. He ties his further destiny with the Jewish community and volunteer movement.

I am a volunteer, I like to write prose, act on stage or put on small plays.

My volunteer career started with a Shabbat at home of an elderly single woman, who has hearing problems. I also worked with children with disabilities.

I do volunteering because I like to make people happier, make them smile, give them attention and let them understand their importance. I also like to feel that people need me while helping them.

At the moment I am working on creating a project for BBYO and I have already two ready-made projects.

I have many hobbies, for many years, I have been playing in amateurs theater and dancing, but the volunteering is one of the main places of my life. The Volunteering is a way for me to help those who really need it, selflessly to give what I have and even more. And although, in fact, it is impossible to help to everyone, I am actively working to make this world a little better and kinder! And the lives of the people fill with bright colors and light!

For several years he kept the volunteer “Break-Dance” project for the Jewish youth, also, he organized and carried out the jams and competitions of the break- dance for the city collectives. He considers that "volunteering" is the same tsdaka. The most important thing here is only want and everything will be ok. With pleasure he participates in the actions as he considers that we, by own hands, do the world a little bit kinder.

It is very interesting to me to work with the volunteers and with the coordinators, they – are my inspiration and incentive to work more and more productively! There is a wish to expand the project to the other cities and to communicate to all elderly people in Moscow, data of whom we have.

To help to each other- is naturally.
Iam alive thanks to grant aid of the strangers during the evacuation in Tashkent. In the train we were robbed. No one penny, no clothes. But the Uzbeks neighbors were very kind. Somebody brought food, somebody- a plate, somebody – some clothes, blankets, even sandals for me they brought.

A few months later, pregnant mom received a notice about the death of our father. She got into the hospital and was sick for a very long time. I was 8 years old when I was completely alone. It was very scary. When I began to fall down from the hunger, I was fed by an unknown Russian neighbor. She taught me to knit the mittens for front-line soldiers. And, because of my age, I could not be taken to the factory, the woman took my items and gave me the money. Such things can not be forgotten.
To Help to each other is a serious responsibility.
We, together with the older generation of artists from our theater, visit our peers at their homes, for whom it is difficult already to leave the house. we prepare a special program with the songs and verses, and show the fragments of our performances. We together drink tea, sometimes wine, we talk. We have a few rules: never talk about illnesses, never argue, and not to discuss politics and income.
To help to each other is life stimulus.
We are very serious about our volunteer program. We prepare a scenario, holiday songs, costumes, also, we try to cook the traditional dishes. All is done in good faith, with the soul. Seriously assumed responsibilities help to stay toned, and help to understand the meaning of the life.

I heard about the volunteer activity in Zaporozhye long ago, but have participated only in separate actions — in collecting the things and few times, I even organized a campaign for children of orphans around the Crimea.
Also in 2009 I participated in the ecological actions with the organization “Charm”. I always liked active tourism, and now, we, with the guy, have even created the tourist organization “Need for travel”. We like to make new routes for travellings both in Ukraine, and in the foreign countries! And I can call the experience of the volunteering within our activity, it was organized ten bicycle trips across Zaporizhia region. And that it is possible to be engaged in the volunteering much more often, I have learned only several years later. And before, I didn’t even understand that I need it, as actually, I think, and to each of us. The acquaintance with “Create good, Ukraine” has happened in the summer camp of 2013 in the ethno-village. I have learned about it after my visit to the camp in the Kharkiv region. Now, at last, I have got acquainted with the Zaporozhye volunteers and have learned about the opportunities, opening in front of us! With the time I have learned that to volunteer — it is not only useful for environment and society, but also it is cheerful and informative for you! And though, I can’t call myself the active volunteer, for these 2 years I took part in programs for children and elderly people, and also in the various ecological actions in collecting garbage with “Create good, Ukraine”, in visits to hospitals, and also I took part in the plays staged in the volunteer theater “Krysha”. It is important and useful for the volunteers, I consider the opportunity to develop the colloquial skills of the foreign languages. It seemed to me earlier that there is too little time for the volunteering, but a busy schedule of the actions, want you or not – learns to find the time for everything and to treat each action especially! The volunteering for me is a mutual aid, the friends, and personal growth! The volunteering is a pleasant part of my life, and I hope, yours too!

– Nowadays, the volunteering more than ever is relevant, because at the present moment, there are many people who need the assistance of the others, their support, moreover, they need both financial and moral support.

I graduated from the Lyceum named after Academician Konstantin Sibirsky. Then I entered the Polytechnic University of Moldova as an architect. During school and before the 3rd year of university I used to play basketball professionally, and now I play it for pleasure from time to time. I believe that in order to be in harmony with yourself, you must develop both mentally and physically.

I am inspired by life in all its diversity, and this is one of the reasons why I volunteer. In the volunteer center I met many people, some of whom became my friends. This is the intrigue of life, you never know what will change if you just go to an event, take part in something, offer help, smile, speak to someone.

I can not emphasize a specific moment in my volunteer activity, which I remember the best. It seems to me that after every time I take part in any action, I learn something new about how the world works, and it’s priceless. “Be always in search of yourself and look at the world with wide eyes, be afraid to miss something special in everyday life”, – that is my wish to those who want to do something meaningful and useful. For example, volunteer!

The Jewish community is one of the favorite hobbies for me, which allows me to realize my and others’ potential. It also helps to preserve the culture and individuality of my people.

Volunteering in the Jewish community gives me the opportunity to help people, take part in interesting projects, see many organizational processes from the inside, learn new things, and get a lot of positive emotions and impressions.

I participate in many community projects. Every project has a volunteer component, which, in my opinion, raises the level of efficiency and self-awareness of its participants.

I would like to wish good luck and patience to the “League of Volunteers” project, because it is difficult but very necessary work.

About 12 years ago Lyuba’s father left for Germany. A few years later, Lyuba’s sister Vera with her children also immigrated to Germany.

Lyuba graduated from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Chernivtsi and has been working for many years as head of a pharmacy.

She is married and has a son, Mikhail. She lives with her husband Oleg and her mother Nadezhda Zarkh who sings in the Freileche Neshama choir.

Lyuba and her whole family take an active part in all Jewish Community Programs. Her son Mikhail attends children’s creative studios and the Sunday School. They go to Shabbatons and family camps. They are members of the Young Family Club and participate in almost all Community projects and celebrations.

When Rivne Volunteer Community was founded, Lyuba and her husband came up with great ideas: Lyuba runs the Flea Market Project and Oleg runs the Beauty and Health Project. Lyuba got this idea because she is fond of fashion and hates to throw clothing away.

Wonder Hat Project is another great idea of hers.

Her motto is: “It is easy to do good deeds but it is hard to forget about them”. That is why she helps others.

And further, thanks to the project, he could realize all his qualities and skills. Anton possesses the organizing abilities, he is sociable, and he can easily inspire the children for the occupation. With pleasure he shares his knowledge and skills to the others. People say, that this guy is with the “golden hands”. Thanks to Anton in the Family center, there were repaired all the chairs, bookcases and other furniture. He can easily sort the bathroom equipment for control, to paint the walls, and to update an interior. He visits the wards of the family center at their homes and helps them if they need the help. But it isn’t an end of his interests. Anton is fond of sport. He is the captain of a soccer team, plays tennis, volleyball, basketball. He is going  to master the computer at such level that it will be possible easily to clean the system block, and  to rectify any faults. Anton is the initiative, noble, sympathetic person.

A group of volunteers, including myself, regularly goes to the hospice at the Angela Vavilova Foundation with various master classes and performances. We are trying to brighten up the lives of children and parents.

The idea of volunteering came to me when I was admitted to a medical university, but my inner voice told me that I had to study hard at university and it would be difficult to study and volunteer at the same time. But when I learned more about the activities of the medical volunteers, namely, visiting the hospice, I changed my opinion.

When it happens that the disease got someone who is close to you, then you can’t stand to see someone who is ill, because the desire to help people is really strong. This happened to me. The desire to help and receive joy from the fact that your efforts are accepted with gratitude is the main reward for me. I bet it is hard work. Not everyone is capable of that. When you come home after the hospice, you feel emptiness, exhaustion, but after a while you feel yourself alive! And it’s a miracle! You feel revived and you are full of energy; you have a desire to create, move forwards – all these advantages of volunteering stimulate you to do good deeds! Children at the hospice have a truly bright and pure soul – they feel glad when you smile, touch them or just because you are here. I want to come back there, help them and give them happiness and joy.

I go to the hospice every week on a certain day – kids quickly get used to people and want to see them again. In addition to spending time with children, volunteers organize events, actions in support of the hospice, and just holidays for both the children who are sick and the adults. You can try yourself as an animator, singer, artist, or simply as an organizer – everyone will be very happy about any help!

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. You should at least try it.

The story of Marina Fruman is a striking example of vast opportunities for career and professional development offered by the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society.

She started to discover the Jewish culture in 2002, when Elena, Marina’s mother, first took her to the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society. She started attending children’s creative studios (drama and vocal, painting and choreography, clay modeling, ceramics, and literature) where she revealed her talents and developed her creative skills. With her mother, she attended the Family Club meetings, celebrated Jewish holidays in Open Houses and in the Jewish Community Center, went to family camps and Shabbatons.

As a student, in fall 2015, Marina started attending the Madrichim School by the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society and became a Youth Club member.

Marina takes an active part in a variety of youth programs, seminars, and projects; she always helps organize and conduct them. She has gained a reputation as an active volunteer: she works with children who attend the Family Club with their parents, plays educational games with children and organizes various fun activities for them in the Jewish Community Center, sometimes she even acts as a photographer. Occasionally, Marina replaces the head of The Story Hour program, gets children involved in educational games and fun activities, and teaches them the fundamentals of the Jewish traditions in an interactive way.

Marina Fruman takes on difficult tasks and successfully accomplishes them thanks to her vast knowledge and skills.

By the way, Marina’s mother, Elena Fruman, is also a striking example of vast opportunities for self-realization within our organization. She started as our beneficiary; and now, she works (and volunteers) at the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society.

I am a teacher. Today, I am engaged in the production of the purified bottled water. I have got to the Jewish communal center when I began to bring my daughter to the summer camp, a few years ago. I became the volunteer absolutely consciously. I consider that each person wants the heat and kindness, and the volunteers give to the person the chance to feel necessary and to give the heat and attention. And the volunteer, helping people, also feels necessary for the people. I worked as the volunteer in “Mini-Club”, being engaged with the children as the teacher, also, I participate in various projects of the community. As the volunteer I take part in the “Kosher-Smack” project devoted to the preservation and promoting of the Jewish cuisine among the younger generation. Volunteering, from my point of view, is a disinterested and voluntary aid where especially people need it. And the volunteer, in his turn has an opportunity to self-actualize through the activity, to embody some his aspirations and requirements through the service to people. I am in the center on the photo.

All this time Olga has collaborated, and during the recent years, she is the editor of the newspaper of the Jewish community “Beseder”. But the most important thing for Olga is that the young people and even children are involved in the newspaper issuing. If you are 5 years old, then you have such duties as to pick up toys, to obey, to do homework for preparation for school. If you are 10, then to study, to wash the dishes, to clean up your room, to look after pets. If 15 – … it is clear too. And the time went correctly, one line, approximately with one speed, everything was in that minute in which had to be.

But from a certain stage of my life it became already not so. The line was bent, has cracked, and deadlocks have appeared. At that time my life has turned over. More precisely, it is possible even to tell, it was dropped. I hope that only in order that I could get up and to put it according to my own design.

When the train has brought me to Sumy (I still don’t know whether I was in this train a passenger or his driver), I have opened some new horizons for myself. Not in the financial or material sense, but in moral. In this city I feel like at home. Not only because there are my parents, but also because there live people who let me on their house full of ideas and good deeds.

Our communication has begun with the simple help. The help for people in need they saw for the first time. They taught me how pleasant it is to receive and also to give. Giving became my good habit and I am really thankful for this opportunity. Who, if not we? Who, if not I? When, if not now?

Hello to everybody! My name is Valera. How can I briefly introduce myself? Will try to be short. Now I am a student of the Kuban State University, most of my time I spent on programming, creating cool things, which make our life easier. But I am also trying to devote more time to the Southern Volunteering Center, helping elderly and the head of the center – Alexandra. I love to do this, because with the help of this opportunity I can meet new people and just have fun?

Volunteering is my hobby. I get incredible pleasure helping someone, whether people or animals, or the environment.
It turns out, I’m volunteering since childhood. Once upon a time I have made some handcrafts in kindergarten and gave them to the old women living next to me. It seems like doing something small, but it gives a smile and positive emotions to others. Now all people are concerned about their own problems, and many of us lack good things in the world. If everyone gave a moment of his time per day or even per week to volunteering in all its forms, our life would be brighter and more joyous.

My name is Eugene Eydel, I am 37 years old. I am a historian-ethnographer by profession. I am engaged in research in the field of Old Russian and Byzantine sphragistics. I am the author of scientific articles on document prints of Kievan Rus. My hobby is search activity, preservation and publication of material objects of history and culture. I also studied Jewish history and culture of Cherkasy region. When I heard about the community, I have brought my children to Jewish Sunday school and a Jewish group ” Prahim” in kindergarten №81. Since then, I am an active volunteer, and I help in organization of events, which are held in Hesed for children, teenagers, wards. When volunteer center was established in the community, I had the opportunity of self-realization through volunteer activities. When I came to the community and Hesed for the first time, I asked myself: “How can I help, and how can I be helpful?” I try to make a contribution to the development of the volunteer center, share my thoughts and ideas with volunteers, and help in organizing and conducting community events, festivals and master-classes. I am also involved in deliver of gifts for Jewish holidays to the old clients of Hesed, so they can receive congratulations to Purim, Hanukkah, Sabbath, and Victory Day. As for me, to be a volunteer is an opportunity to change people around me and to make our world a better, cleaner, kinder place to live.

If you are looking for a volunteer who wants to participate in everything that happens, so this is Julia Potikha. That is what Julia says about herself: “Hi. My name is Julia, I am 20 years old. I am a student, a poetess and, simply, a volunteer.

The Volunteer Center, unfortunately, she did not enter immediately, it was with the help of the Youth Club “Derech” in Beit Grand. What for do I volunteer? I do volunteering work, in order to direct my energy, which is more than enough, to the right direction. It is very important to feel useful to those who surround me. And also it is important to develop yourself in various interesting directions.
The relevance of volunteerism, of course, is that there are always people in need of assistance. And, the most important moment is, that there is always someone who will gladly help them.
The volunteering is the relationship between the thousands of people who work as one big body. For someone to screw a light bulb is the difficult work, but for someone else, it is like to click your finger. So, why not to introduce them for the successful cooperation. Thanks to such work the society blooms in my eyes. This gives me the faith in the surrounding world, invaluable experience and good people. »

I have never been indifferent to what is happening with what surrounds me. Nature, animals, people. I often take the pain of others as my own, trying to help in solving other people’s problems, if it is within my power. Most likely, this was the basis of my volunteer life. I participate in such projects as “Dreams do not grow old,” “Help without limits”, “Week of good deeds” with a great pleasure. To be a volunteer is a great opportunity to help others, to do good things. Being engaged in something good, helpful, kind, you fill your life with meaning, and this is important! Everyone should do something generous and kind in his life!

Igor Khuznetzov. I am 29, I have a good job, I attend football trainings and lead a healthy lifestyle.
All these I make for myself. But what can I do for the other people? The answer for this question I got not so long ago, in February 2015, when because of my curiosity, I attended the lessons at the Volunteering School in the Community Center. My friends have already attended these lessons at this Community. From that time I understand that I can really help to the other people, and I can see the result of my actions, moreover, I can see the results of our team. I became the volunteer of the project “Volunteer Landing”, because in this project I can easily find the application of my skills and physical strength. I am very happy, because, as it is said: “Better latter than never”, also, I want to add that it is very important to understand that you can help to the others

But the Moked Lokashish project, with which we help elderly people to do small repair works, is the closest to me.
As for me, it is actual to be the volunteer today because every time, I feel as I bring benefit to the society and indirectly I do many people a little happier.
