At the beginning of 2016 I passed the “School of volunteers” and was given the task to find an organization where I can approve myself as a volunteer and get the practice of volunteering. I talked with some organizations, and then fate brought me to the Jewish Community Center “Mazel Tov” and in the volunteer movement “Do Good, Ukraine!” As in this organization I haven’t been met nowhere. Coordinator paid me much attention, and told me in details about different directions of volunteering. Before coming to the organization, I felt useless; they said me they have no occupation for me. But when I joined volunteer movement “Do Good, Ukraine!” I became able to try different directions, to help different people and children, and most of all, to spent time with the elderly. When I talked with old men in “Hesed” and geriatric boarding houses, I was resented by injustice, loneliness and ingratitude with which these people are facing in the end of their lives. I decided to lead the direction that helps old people in the volunteer movement and to gather a team of volunteers who will be able to visit the elderly and help them each week. My direction is developing, I am glad and thankful that I see and feel the support of volunteers and the community. I am sure that we will be able to help a lot of people!

So let’s get acquainted! My name is Alexander Kamyshev. I was born in Krasnodar in 1972. I am a scorpio. I have a degree in radio engineering, another in optoelectronic physics. I have also more additional professions. I have many diverse interests – from electronics and botany, to theology and esotericism. I like being helpful. I like to share my knowledge, skills and experience.

Nowadays society is looking for something new and interesting. All people are bored. Therefore, my knowledge and new information interest people. And I am interested in them. When I first felt it, I realized the importance of sharing information with others, because it gives energy and power to develop yourself more and more. We will not be alone, because we are sharing and people will be interested with us. Over time, we will be recognized as specialists in one or several areas. And people will ask you questions! I think, to give, to give, to give – this is the motto of the real Master! And this is the most wonderful feeling in the world!

Andrei Alekseevich Zaporenko, 14 years old. I am fond of electronics, mechanics, equipment architecture and functionality. I study at the secondary school at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. I am a 7th grade student.

I have a lot of free time and a like to help others. That is why I have decided to become a volunteer. I have heard that many Hesed clients want to study computer literacy but there is no PC tutor. I offered my services and give computer literacy classes 2 times a week. I wrote a curriculum and started teaching in November, 2016.

I believe that volunteering is all about helping others.

I have initiated the project called ProOldUse for the elder – electronic devices initiation course (PC, smartphone, tablet, reader). I enjoy volunteering very much, and I see that my students are very happy. I see their joy because someone cares about them, because they get knowledge and basic skills which allow them to use modern technologies and feel self-confident. You know what I mean.

I wish our Volunteer Center to have more volunteers. Besides, I have some ideas how to advance my project. I enjoy volunteering, and I am very happy to have gained experience and had some practice.

To synagogue I came a year ago, a friend brought me there . . and my roots.
Then I found out that there was an organization Hillel and there are a lot of directions in it, and one of them is volunteering.
This direction has always been interesting for me, why not to help a needy person, if you have the opportunity and desire to.
I am very sociable person, I love to meet new people, and the volunteering gives you the opportunity to communicate with the people of different ages.
It is a great opportunity to realize yourself in different domains, to spend the time pleasantly, and to bring t somebody some benefit. The volunteer makes invisible but very important work.
I believe that everybody can become a volunteer, after all, to help to someone and to give him a little heat, it is not so difficult, the main is desire!

For the first time at BF “Hesed Khan” I have come in 2013 to the “Perspective” project of Igor Zaselsky. I liked the lessons and I began to be interested in the other OC programs.
I was interested in the programs of MK “Sababa” and the volunteer direction. The Volunteering has attracted me with an opportunity to be useful for those who are in need of it. I like to help people, and to do their life better. To help in those situations where it is impossible to cope by your own efforts.
During the volunteering I have managed to take part in several large-scale actions. It is fund raising for the children ill with autism (Day of Good Deeds), the cleaning of the Jewish cemetery in Nikolaev (feel Ukraine). And also numerous smaller, but not smaller behind the importance of the actions: fund raising, the help to people with limited movement, blood donorship and so forth.

The story of Marina Fruman is a striking example of vast opportunities for career and professional development offered by the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society.

She started to discover the Jewish culture in 2002, when Elena, Marina’s mother, first took her to the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society. She started attending children’s creative studios (drama and vocal, painting and choreography, clay modeling, ceramics, and literature) where she revealed her talents and developed her creative skills. With her mother, she attended the Family Club meetings, celebrated Jewish holidays in Open Houses and in the Jewish Community Center, went to family camps and Shabbatons.

As a student, in fall 2015, Marina started attending the Madrichim School by the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society and became a Youth Club member.

Marina takes an active part in a variety of youth programs, seminars, and projects; she always helps organize and conduct them. She has gained a reputation as an active volunteer: she works with children who attend the Family Club with their parents, plays educational games with children and organizes various fun activities for them in the Jewish Community Center, sometimes she even acts as a photographer. Occasionally, Marina replaces the head of The Story Hour program, gets children involved in educational games and fun activities, and teaches them the fundamentals of the Jewish traditions in an interactive way.

Marina Fruman takes on difficult tasks and successfully accomplishes them thanks to her vast knowledge and skills.

By the way, Marina’s mother, Elena Fruman, is also a striking example of vast opportunities for self-realization within our organization. She started as our beneficiary; and now, she works (and volunteers) at the Emuna Jewish Cultural Society.

Vladislav Shurovsky is one of the most active volunteers of our Organization “League of the Jewish Mutual Assistance». He participats in many volunteer projects and promotions. If you ask him for the help, Vladislav never refuses. Here is some information that Vladislav says about himself:
“Hello. I am twenty years old, my name is Vladislav Shurovsky, I study the political sciences, I am interested in many things, and namely, I am much interested in the World War II, in the history of different epochs, in technology and my great interest is in the knowledge of the space.
The volunteer movement I entered almost by chance, it was the invitation of the head of the “League of the Jewish Mutual Assistance”, and partly he was my friend.

Very often people ask me why I am volunteering? For that question, I always answer — I do the volunteer work, because it is initially very interesting. In addition to this, it is a very important factor for me the support to the Jewish traditions and the community in particular.
Unfortunately, I faced the fact that except ourselves, the volunteers, who are led by the idea, no one, as it turned out, cannot even help to the lonely old people. The Volunteering, in my opinion, helps to unite the Jewish youth.
Finally, the volunteering gives me positive emotions, endless energy and a totally new social circle of communication.»

Lyuba was born and grew up in Tomsk (Russia) in the family of radio engineers. Then her father was transferred to the city of Rivne, so, the whole family moved here. About 12 years ago Lyuba’s father left for Germany. A few years later, Lyuba’s sister Vera with her children also immigrated to Germany.

Lyuba graduated from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Chernivtsi and has been working for many years as head of a pharmacy.

She is married and has a son, Mikhail. She lives with her husband Oleg and her mother Nadezhda Zarkh who sings in the Freileche Neshama choir.

Lyuba and her whole family take an active part in all Jewish Community Programs. Her son Mikhail attends children’s creative studios and the Sunday School. They go to Shabbatons and family camps. They are members of the Young Family Club and participate in almost all Community projects and celebrations.

When Rivne Volunteer Community was founded, Lyuba and her husband came up with great ideas: Lyuba runs the Flea Market Project and Oleg runs the Beauty and Health Project. Lyuba got this idea because she is fond of fashion and hates to throw clothing away.

Wonder Hat Project is another great idea of hers.

Her motto is: “It is easy to do good deeds but it is hard to forget about them”. That is why she helps others.

Having arrived from Israel in September, 2014, I have got my friendly family in Hesed “Tikva” where I am always helped and on any question answered “to rise on my legs” in the city in which a lot of things weren’t familiar for me.
Precisely, I decided to offer my help in those small affairs, feasible to me, and which are the usual work of the volunteer center.
Today, I lead the direction – “Family volunteering”. The sense of this direction of the volunteer activity is in the following: the lonely client of a Hesed is consolidated to a family, and we several times a month visit him and whenever possible we help the family.
The work of the center is always actual. It is very important to have any support and in difficult life situations to get this support.

All these I make for myself. But what can I do for the other people? The answer for this question I got not so long ago, in February 2015, when because of my curiosity, I attended the lessons at the Volunteering School in the Community Center. My friends have already attended these lessons at this Community. From that time I understand that I can really help to the other people, and I can see the result of my actions, moreover, I can see the results of our team. I became the volunteer of the project “Volunteer Landing”, because in this project I can easily find the application of my skills and physical strength. I am very happy, because, as it is said: “Better latter than never”, also, I want to add that it is very important to understand that you can help to the others

I am inspired by only one word… Kindness, because it really means a lot of things: the help, happiness, smiles, and a lot of other things.
My first project with “Juice” was the Fieldman project. When I was going to this project, I didn’t think of the fact that it would be so cheerful and interesting. But it has turned out that it has really brought me much pleasure, and of course many selfie)))
I am very thankful to this project for an opportunity to spend time with advantage, but at the same time it is interesting to spend the time with the remarkable people. I hope, we will be able to help a bigger number of people!

I do volunteer work from the year 2013. I used to work only on sporting events such as the Universiade, the fire of the Olympics, the WORLD CUP for fencing etc. The volunteering has helped me in finding new friends, to communicate and in the practice of foreign language. Now, working in the community, I’m starting to get interested in the volunteering of its other side : the help to the older people and children. I madly please to be helpful in this mortal world and I try to help, to do good things and to be always in the center of events. 🙂
And the relevance of this issue now is quite high because people will always act to the effect of “Tom Sawyer”: one started, the others I want to do it, too. Here is no exception, when people saw and are interested in such a thing as volunteering, they immediately want to be involved in everything that is connected to this beautiful case as volunteering. Everybody began to help, and to work together for the benefit of the humanity, and so on.
Plus, it must never be forgotten about the fact that people will always compete with those who are similar to them and when someone sees that his friend/rival/teammate turns out to work the volunteer better, more and qualitative, so then this someone begins to pursue higher goals and in volunteering too

I was born in town Penza, after school graduation I moved to St. Petersburg and entered there St. Petersburg State University of culture and arts to the speciality of cultural studies with the specialization in Geography. I studied the history and culture of different countries and peoples. During my studies I was working in different cafes and in guest service. After the graduation, without any hesitation, I finished the courses of Guide around the Europe, which gave me the opportunity to find a job in tourism, where I would be able to travel and always to learn something new. But in 2012, because of the personal problems I needed a change of the situation and, as the topic of my licence thesis was the culture of Latin America countries, I decided to go to Mexico as a volunteer. I took part in several social projects, and the experience that I’ve gained there, helped me to look at many things in a new way. Our most valuable resource is time and it’s very important for me to spend it with the maximum benefit, and to volunteer, making something good, useful, desired completely donated and then you, actually, get much more pleasure. Thanks to this trip, after my return, I decided not to be restricted only by the foreign volunteering and I am happy to participate in any local projects. I believe that the so-called “work for free” makes us very rich, it teaches us to be tolerant, kind, positive, energetic, and self-confident. In my opinion, this is an invaluable experience and an opportunity to be developed spiritually, morally, creatively, etc.

The fact that there is such a volunteer network my girlfriend told me, where you can help in different ways and to very different people and the most important thing is that it will be necessary and important for them! It is very interesting and funny! Because you do something good for the people and it is very pleasant!

I study at the Polytechnic College. I practice fire show, play djembe, love to travel and to philosophize on various topics. I got in RVC thanks to my girlfriend. I am a volunteer with great pleasure, help in different projects and events. Here I found good friends and I like to spend time with them outside volunteer center, too. I am often involved in community events, helping with organization. Also I visit children at the boarding school №3, entertaining them with interesting quizzes and competitions. I recently took part in shooting of the documentary film dedicated to the Victory Day. Its goal is to save the memory of those who gave us the freedom, fighting for the motherland. I try to take part in as many projects as I can and spend most of my time on meetings and voluntary.

My name is Antonina and I am 45 years old. I started to attend the program “Jewish revival” with my daughter and son. When we got into a difficult situation, I looked for help in the project “Children’s Initiative” and learned that the program “Bank of things” need volunteers. I have been volunteering for many years, and I think that people should be able to share their attention and time with others.

Elizabeth Koshkina, 45 years old. Economist. She likes to travel in Russia.

Elizabeth was actively involved in the life of the Jewish community of the city after returning from Israel in 2011. She teaches Hebrew and introduces children to the traditions of Jews abroad. Here Elizabeth got acquainted with the Kesher project, through which the scrolls of the Torah were given to the Jewish community of Nizhny Tagil.

Participation in the volunteer movement allows Elizabeth to maintain a connection with Jewry in an assimilated society.

The last project, in which Elizabeth takes part, is called the Jewish Ural.

A few years ago I started to collect documents for the “Claimes Conference” and asked Menorah for help, since I had to translate documents into English, which I do not speak. I am very grateful to the volunteer who spent time with me and helped me a lot.

Since I am an active person and I always respond to any suggestions to do good to people, I gladly agreed to Elena Rodionova’s proposal to become a volunteer. Now I communicate with people and tell the information about the programs to other wards of social programs. I am working, of course, to the best of my ability, because my health is not good.

Today it is necessary to be a volunteer, because so many people need help both for health reasons and because they do not have relatives who could help them. I feel that I’m doing something important.

I am 28 years old, I have graduated RGSU in “Sociology”, a year I have studied in Jerusalem in “Machon Meir” within the program MASA. I have two children. In the project “Memory. Help. Generations” I am from its basis. In 4 months from the participant I have passed into the  coordinators of the volunteers. Now I am, mainly, engaged in the processing of the incoming calls from elderly people. Thanks to the project, I can do something socially significant, often without leaving the house that for me, as a mother of two small children, is very important. During my work in the project I have got acquainted with remarkable people: as volunteers, and those from whom I collect the  information about the dead relatives, for further transfer to the museum “Yad Vashem”, I have learned a set of interesting stories of life, I have tried to help to those people with something whom I face on the work in the project, together with the other volunteers.
