How did she get to the volunteer center? — Mother of two children, at difficult life circumstances, has asked for the help in the children’s program. Later, she decided to assist us in the organization of the holidays for children. Now, she also provides help and support to our moms in difficult life situations.
Why to be a volunteer? Quotation: «I am helped, that is why I help too, and I can not live without it now».

Why is it actual today? Quotation: «if I have the possibility to help to somebody, I consider, that I must do it, the word «volunteer» I heard not long ago, but I am busy with it all my life».

It is already four years as I am a student of faculty of Micro and nano – electronics. But the study is not all my life, one of my main interests — is the volunteer activity. I had an experience of the volunteering still before I have got to LVC. Now I am interested in the ecodirection, namely in the help to homeless animals and the “Green Energy” project — the project for the development of the culture, and of rational use of the energy resources. Also I like to work with children very much, and I together with Lena coordinate the program the “Elder brother”.
Volunteering for me is one of the best ways to prove and realize my potential by doing good deeds, social and useful deeds. You are trained in various labor skills, you participates in the real projects, you gain knowledge and the professional skills.

My name is Elena. I am from the north of Moldova, from the town of Riscani. I left Liviu Damian Lyceum and moved to Chisinau. In 2015 I entered Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Faculty of General Medicine. Now, I am a sophomore.

I like walking, listening to jazz and instrumental music, reading classic English literature. Sometimes, I even write poems. I am also keen on football, tennis, and volleyball.

I believe that helping others is one of the most important and noble human acts. Thanks to the Republican Volunteer Center, I got involved in volunteer activities. My affection for children brought me to the wonderful project called Give a Smile, within the framework of which I volunteer every weekend.

The most exciting moment in my volunteer activity was my first visit to V. Ignatenko Children’s Hospital where I met a nice four-year-old girl. First, she was very reserved; then, suddenly she took me by the hand. At that moment, I felt that she trusts me, and we became friends.

Each visit to V. Ignatenko Children’s Hospital or the Republican Oncology Institute creates lasting, happy memories.

For me, volunteering means deep feelings, sincere emotions, communication with decent people. Volunteering has become part of my life; this is an opportunity to help others, to be more attentive, to develop a sense of delicacy and positive thinking.

When I look into the children’s sad eyes, when I see how patient and persistent they are in their struggle for life, I learn to live and to cherish every moment, to be strong and purposeful.

I believe that volunteering is a conscious choice influenced by various factors. In my case, this is altruism. People decide to become volunteers based on their values and vision but when you make a choice, it must come from your heart.

If you feel, at least, a little bit happier doing good deeds, then you are welcome in our Republican Volunteer Center!

Volunteering is my hobby. I get incredible pleasure helping someone, whether people or animals, or the environment.
It turns out, I’m volunteering since childhood. Once upon a time I have made some handcrafts in kindergarten and gave them to the old women living next to me. It seems like doing something small, but it gives a smile and positive emotions to others. Now all people are concerned about their own problems, and many of us lack good things in the world. If everyone gave a moment of his time per day or even per week to volunteering in all its forms, our life would be brighter and more joyous.

I’m studying art, I’m fond of literature, modern art and writing plays.

The idea to become a volunteer came to me a long time ago. It happened before I got to know the cultural center “Menorah” and the “League of Volunteers”. It all started with a project to help veterans in Ekaterinburg.

Later, when I was already in Menorah, I became a volunteer in the “Keeping stories” project, collecting stories of war veterans. Due to this project I started to join other projects related to the gifts delivering, collecting things, helping older people and children with special needs. Sometimes, it is necessary to make 5-6 visits for couple of hours, but everyone is filled with positive impressions and emotions about what you are doing.

First of all, volunteering for me is communication with people whom I could never meet outside the project; the opportunity to “grasp” the story. It helps me to expand my vision. So in a way, I pay tribute to people, thanks to whom we live in a peaceful time, preserving the history of their lives. I really want the project “League of Volunteers” to continue to develop and increase the number of volunteers and initiatives for them.

Lyuba was born and grew up in Tomsk (Russia) in the family of radio engineers. Then her father was transferred to the city of Rivne, so, the whole family moved here. About 12 years ago Lyuba’s father left for Germany. A few years later, Lyuba’s sister Vera with her children also immigrated to Germany.

Lyuba graduated from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Chernivtsi and has been working for many years as head of a pharmacy.

She is married and has a son, Mikhail. She lives with her husband Oleg and her mother Nadezhda Zarkh who sings in the Freileche Neshama choir.

Lyuba and her whole family take an active part in all Jewish Community Programs. Her son Mikhail attends children’s creative studios and the Sunday School. They go to Shabbatons and family camps. They are members of the Young Family Club and participate in almost all Community projects and celebrations.

When Rivne Volunteer Community was founded, Lyuba and her husband came up with great ideas: Lyuba runs the Flea Market Project and Oleg runs the Beauty and Health Project. Lyuba got this idea because she is fond of fashion and hates to throw clothing away.

Wonder Hat Project is another great idea of hers.

Her motto is: “It is easy to do good deeds but it is hard to forget about them”. That is why she helps others.

When her daughters were in “Mazl tov”, she visited the “Club of young mothers” at “Mazl tov”. Children have passed into “Aleph Bat” — mother became the activist of “School of parents” at “Aleph Bat”. And now in “Emuna” everybody knows: Anastasia Drugakova – is the person whom it is always possible to address. I work in a transport company, I am married, mother of three children. Drugakov’ family has come to the Jewish cultural society “Emuna” in 2008. At first the average child – Miroslava –visited the center of early development “Mazl tov”. Then elder sister Arina has joined her.
For Anastasia, it is a way of self-realization and the moral principle (if there is an opportunity to help other people, it should be made). The heroine is sure that to be a volunteer is always actually.

I have two children, and thanks to its help, one of my daughters had the possibility to receive necessary medical care and get another chance to live. As for me, volunteering is manifestation of my position as a citizen, the position of friendly attitude to people around me. This is an opportunity to use all my professional and life experience there, where it can really help somebody.

Once, I came to a charity event as a volunteer, I decided to expand my social circle. This has dramatically changed my life and now I’m regularly participating in various actions. This is an opportunity for me to make the world happier! But the most significant thing is a lot of positive communication with different people!

I became a volunteer because I feel that this is what I have to do. Volunteering makes me feel better, it gives me the feeling that you spent your day for a good reason.

I am a participant of the animators club “Hag Sameah”, and volunteering is an opportunity to realize my creative skills!

I am proud that I became a part of a large family of the volunteer “Doing Good, Ukraine!” movement!

I visit Hesed every week. I am a participant of the Youth club “Kokhavim” the pupil of Sunday school. It gives me much pleasure. I found many friends in the community. When the new guys come to us, we accept them with pleasure and we try to make for them as much comfort as possible in our community. One of my main occupations in the community is a volunteer activity. I like to help people and animals, and to carry out various social events! Together with our Youth club and Volunteer Network we realize many interesting ideas of our leader, Valeria Tsareva. We are lucky to have such a leader. We visit animals’ shelter, we help elderly people and the children of risk group, FRP. Now in our community two new actions started: the collecting of the waste paper and the collecting of the used batteries. It is very important for the nature keeping and for me. As for me, it is very interesting and cheerful to be a volunteer, and, above all — it allows me to feel necessary and useful to the surrounding people, animals and the nature. Smiles of the children, happy muzzles of the dogs and pure natural zones without any garbage — here is the main award of the volunteer!!

Olga was very glad to collaborate with the community, because she considers that the museum is a historical memory in the exhibits for many years.
Today, Olga carries out an active work in the collection of the documents, photographs and the objects of the Jewish population life inside of the city and outside of it. When the items are found, she designs the Museum window-cases and creates the exhibition.
The activity of the museum worker demands the meetings with the people, trips after the exhibits, their delivery to the place, the study of the historical literature, investigation of the other documents, etc. All this work is included in Olga’s research, collecting and documenting procedures. Our heroine assured that she makes everything with the great enthusiasm and that is why she considers her activity as a volunteering one. Especially, it is very pleasant for her to know that the young people actively participate in the process of collecting the information for the museum and the book “The History of the Jews in Voronezh Region ”

My name is Veronica. I am 14 years old. I am an 8th grade student at the Jewish school of Bishkek. My hobby is music. I can sing, play the guitar and the piano. Besides, I like reading and learning foreign languages.

All my life, even as a child, I have enjoyed helping others.

Then I started asking myself how I can help not only my family and friends but also other people. I got the answer to my question three years ago, when I first came to Hesed Tikva Jewish Charitable Fund. First, I went to the summer camp as a beneficiary. It was so much fun! I enjoyed every minute of it. We combined games and various fun activities with lectures on Jewish history and traditions. Then I found out that I can become a volunteer, and I decided that that was exactly what I wanted. So, I started volunteering in all kind of projects. My first volunteer experience was on the Victory Day. I took part in the concert organized for World War II veterans – our Jewish Community members. A year later, I was giving music classes at the summer camp. I also run the project called Happy Birthday to You, Dear Friend! In general, I try to take an active part in all the projects.

I would like to resume why I have decided to become a volunteer: I want to make people, at least, a little bit happier. I believe that your attitude and vision is more important that the scale of the project. Sometimes, it is enough to call a person to make his or her day!

To conclude, I want to say that I am very happy to be part of this wonderful team, and I want to do more.

Olga Nikitina. I am 24. 3 years I lived in Israel. I am the member of the volunteering Center from the day of its opening, because I often attend the Community Center “Thija”, and I couldn’t miss the new initiative, which is very useful for our community. As for me, the volunteering, first of all, is a pleasant possibility to help to the other people, and desirably, I am very glad to help with the things which I can do by myself. I became the co-author and the volunteer of the project “Kind Guest”. And I get much pleasure cooking according to the recipes of our ancestors, thereby, making the goodness to the members of my community in the present. People say, that my dishes are very tasty. And I think, it is so because I do it with all my love.

Valentina is a 2nd year student of Kherson State University. She learns at the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of History, Psychology and Sociology.
Since 2016 Valentina has been participating in the project “Peace to Your Home“. After she had attended several trainings and seminars she decided to try herself as a volunteer.
Valentina provides all kinds of assistance to the project participants Anna Pinsukhovna and Anatoly Ilyich Matusevich, who are wards of „Hesed Shmuel“.
Anatoly Ilyich is a person with a disability and is in a wheelchair today. He never goes out in the fresh air and he suffers of lack of communication. He doesn’t even want to be photographed!
Since the day they met Valentina they found a common ground. Valentina is a talented young woman interested in literature, music, and applied arts. Anatoly Ilyich is also a handyman: he is a cabinetmaker by profession, and also makes remarkable items in quilling techniques.
Anna Pinsukhovna was also glad to meet Valentina and decided to teach the young lady to cook.

I like to learn and to teach, to develop, to know something new. I have various interests in the sphere of the exact sciences, and in the area of arts and crafts creativity. The work in thecommunity allows to realize the most various creative ideas. The limitation of the resources demands the creative approaches, and non-standard thinking. The ability to solve the major problems with costs of “three coins” – it is very useful ability in our hard time.
