I participate with pleasure in volunteer projects of Mykolayiv Volunteer Community and I am an active volunteer.

Me and my family are happy to help people who need support and attention. I take part in charity concerts for lonely elderly people, cleaning up the international cemetery, visiting single people with my family etc.

My daughter, Alesya, is happy to make handucrafts for lonely elderly people, and most importantly, she learns that it is necessary to help people and take an active part in all charitable school projects.

The familiarity with Judaism and Jewish life, I began with my aunts, who studied at a Jewish Orthodox school, approximately at 12 years. They led me into the synagogue and helped to settle. Then I began to attend the synagogue more often. It was the time when I kept Shabbat, Koshrut, and Tfilin. I am interested in the volunteering. Because the youth must know about its roots, understand who they are and be proud of them. But when you are young, it is difficult to understand this, and especially by yourself. So, I try, as much as possible, to help the young people to learn their history, to help to understand that the Jews are one big family.

How did she get to the volunteer center? In 2011 I have finished the leading seminar «Metsuda»,
the goal of which it was to create my own volunteer project. And since then, the volunteer activities have become an integral part of my life. Now, I can’t imagine my Sunday without Volunteer Center, without my project concerning the work with the teenagers. And even my 10 year old son is involved in a large number of promo events together with me. So, the opening of the Volunteer Center meant for me the only one thing -I’ll soon have a huge number of like-minded people who want to change this world for the better.

Why to be a volunteer? Because this is now the only possible (real and available to everyone) the way to change something around yourself. To make the world better, purer and kinder. Don’t sit and complain but to change, create, improve, and develop.
Why is it actual today? For many reasons, actually. Of course because I have already said that only with your own power, desire and love you can change something. Since I mostly work with the teenagers, so, I can name several more specific reasons for them.
This is a great way to find real friends. Not those who will be together with you only in social networks, but those who will be tested not only by a word but also by his deeds. This year, it was much talked about that we remember the veterans only on 9 May. So, our guys can proudly say that it isn’t so! I know that our teenagers visit the veterans not only on holidays, but also during the weekdays. It’s nice to be a part of something big and good, and the Volunteer Center is best suited for this.

I believe in the fact that “Treat the people well, so they treat you the same”. And if not me, then who?

Hello everyone! My name is Liza, and I am the coordinator of the animal assistance project (assistance to the Krasnodog animal shelter). All the inhabitants of our planet, including myself, see homeless animals every day, and I want to do at least something to help them. I found out 2 years ago that in our city there is a shelter for animals “Krasnodog”. Our volunteers and me went to help the shelter, and I was very impressed. I saw many injured animals, and they suffered from people’s behavior. When I had seen this, I wanted to show people what happens to those whom we do not care about. That’s how the project, which I coordinate, has appeared in our volunteer center.

It is necessary to help those who need the help and just to put yourself to the place of other persons. Not everybody has the opportunities the same that we have, and namely, for example, the material benefits therefore — “it is necessary not only to take, but also to be able to give”. And it concerns not only the material things
I like to help people because I don’t stand when someone suffers and if I understand that it is in my forces to make the person slightly really happier, then I do everything possible for this purpose.

Then I found out that there was an organization Hillel and there are a lot of directions in it, and one of them is volunteering.
This direction has always been interesting for me, why not to help a needy person, if you have the opportunity and desire to.
I am very sociable person, I love to meet new people, and the volunteering gives you the opportunity to communicate with the people of different ages.
It is a great opportunity to realize yourself in different domains, to spend the time pleasantly, and to bring t somebody some benefit. The volunteer makes invisible but very important work.
I believe that everybody can become a volunteer, after all, to help to someone and to give him a little heat, it is not so difficult, the main is desire!

All these I make for myself. But what can I do for the other people? The answer for this question I got not so long ago, in February 2015, when because of my curiosity, I attended the lessons at the Volunteering School in the Community Center. My friends have already attended these lessons at this Community. From that time I understand that I can really help to the other people, and I can see the result of my actions, moreover, I can see the results of our team. I became the volunteer of the project “Volunteer Landing”, because in this project I can easily find the application of my skills and physical strength. I am very happy, because, as it is said: “Better latter than never”, also, I want to add that it is very important to understand that you can help to the others

Lyuba was born and grew up in Tomsk (Russia) in the family of radio engineers. Then her father was transferred to the city of Rivne, so, the whole family moved here. About 12 years ago Lyuba’s father left for Germany. A few years later, Lyuba’s sister Vera with her children also immigrated to Germany.

Lyuba graduated from the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Chernivtsi and has been working for many years as head of a pharmacy.

She is married and has a son, Mikhail. She lives with her husband Oleg and her mother Nadezhda Zarkh who sings in the Freileche Neshama choir.

Lyuba and her whole family take an active part in all Jewish Community Programs. Her son Mikhail attends children’s creative studios and the Sunday School. They go to Shabbatons and family camps. They are members of the Young Family Club and participate in almost all Community projects and celebrations.

When Rivne Volunteer Community was founded, Lyuba and her husband came up with great ideas: Lyuba runs the Flea Market Project and Oleg runs the Beauty and Health Project. Lyuba got this idea because she is fond of fashion and hates to throw clothing away.

Wonder Hat Project is another great idea of hers.

Her motto is: “It is easy to do good deeds but it is hard to forget about them”. That is why she helps others.

Having arrived from Israel in September, 2014, I have got my friendly family in Hesed “Tikva” where I am always helped and on any question answered “to rise on my legs” in the city in which a lot of things weren’t familiar for me.
Precisely, I decided to offer my help in those small affairs, feasible to me, and which are the usual work of the volunteer center.
Today, I lead the direction – “Family volunteering”. The sense of this direction of the volunteer activity is in the following: the lonely client of a Hesed is consolidated to a family, and we several times a month visit him and whenever possible we help the family.
The work of the center is always actual. It is very important to have any support and in difficult life situations to get this support.

In my life it was always been pleasant to help and to assist the people. It is not obligatory to be the friends and relatives. It gives me much pleasure the process and the result. Probably, I was born with such a character. When I have learned about “Juice”, I have been struck that here, in Kiev we have such Jewish initiative, I have never thought that it can be. I wanted to help and I had many things which I was ready to share with the others. At once, I have decided to contact familiar Jewish guys and to help them constantly. Also, my idea, of collecting the charitable help for the persons in need, was taken by many acquaintances from the social networks. I plan to attract to this charitable project more and more participants. The most important thing is that everything I do, I do gratuitously and in all sincerity.

As it concerns the information about me:

The Kiev resident, the Jew after the galakh, I work as the manager, my hobby is soccer, the activist of the youth club “See The Light”, Kiev, the project manager of football club “Lekhaim”, the captain of the team “WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?”. I am not married, and actively search for the girlfriend.

Vladislav Shurovsky is one of the most active volunteers of our Organization “League of the Jewish Mutual Assistance». He participats in many volunteer projects and promotions. If you ask him for the help, Vladislav never refuses. Here is some information that Vladislav says about himself:
“Hello. I am twenty years old, my name is Vladislav Shurovsky, I study the political sciences, I am interested in many things, and namely, I am much interested in the World War II, in the history of different epochs, in technology and my great interest is in the knowledge of the space.
The volunteer movement I entered almost by chance, it was the invitation of the head of the “League of the Jewish Mutual Assistance”, and partly he was my friend.

Very often people ask me why I am volunteering? For that question, I always answer — I do the volunteer work, because it is initially very interesting. In addition to this, it is a very important factor for me the support to the Jewish traditions and the community in particular.
Unfortunately, I faced the fact that except ourselves, the volunteers, who are led by the idea, no one, as it turned out, cannot even help to the lonely old people. The Volunteering, in my opinion, helps to unite the Jewish youth.
Finally, the volunteering gives me positive emotions, endless energy and a totally new social circle of communication.»

I am in the Jewish community for 10 years. Sunday school, sohnut and joint camps, the travelling with the community to the Jewish places, Youth Club, dance and educational seminars, charity concerts, Shabbats, that is not the worst part of my life.
I am a student at the university, extra work is in the fitness club, but, somehow, this little for me — I have two days off, and one of which I dedicate to the volunteer work. I teach dancing classes for the children from 3 to 12 years and as a volunteer, I also, teach dancing the grandmothers. As for me, all of them are my favorite. The youngest of my student is 3 years old, while the oldest is 82. This is so cool!
As for me, the volunteering is a way to combine business with pleasure. Dances give me the lightness and energy, and the communication-joy and fun. I like to follow the changes of my students, when they become more confident and opener. I like the process when the ideas of choreographic productions are realized successfully. I like to see when my girls smile at the end of the lessons.

My name is Ella Efimovna Novomlinova. I was born in 1948. I am a former kindergarten teacher (music director). I am retired at the moment. I became a volunteer in 2010, when I came to Hasdei Yerushalaim. I have a group of ward people, whom I regularly ring up, make messages, congratulate on birthday and holidays. I am regularly on duty at the Hesed office, and when it is possible I respond to the requests of people and help them. Since music is my hobby, I help V.O Lanzman to conduct “Musical living room”. My daughter and grandson also take part in the life of Hesed, and I am very happy about it. I am grateful to the whole team of our community.

Julia Tsytkina is an economist in the municipal budget health care institution.

How did you get into the League of Volunteers? I went to Menorah for yoga and painting, and there I found out about the volunteer project. I delivered presents to old people and children, washed the windows at homes of elderly people, and helped to organize painting classes with the elderly.

Now I’m involved in Shabbat project at home of elderly people. We light candles on Fridays, read prayers and hold Shabbat together.

I have the skills, knowledge and desire to help.

I am in the communal center since 5 years, I have been brought by my grandmother into the summer camp. It is possible to say that I have grown here. Last summer I was the President of the group of 30 people for three days. For the first time I have created the world in which for everyone there is the place and occupation. Probably, after that I have understood for myself the structure of the state, who is responsible for and as the world is arranged. That there are people as my grandmother, who need special attention. And that I can change something to the best and in this, the real world. Let it is not global, but where I am, it is necessary. And with the volunteering as the concept, I have got acquainted recently, before, I thought that  I do just what I  have to do. I consider that volunteering is actual today because people  have different problems, which they cannot solve at the level of the state and social services. Here we appear!
